Berekuso Health Screening

Rotary Club of Accra Ring Road Central Partners Élevè HealthWatch to Deliver Free Health Screening at Berekuso Clinic

The Rotary Club of Accra - Ring Road Central (RRC), in collaboration with Élevè HealthWatch, the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, and the Akwapim South Health Directorate, has organized a comprehensive free health screening exercise at the Berekuso Clinic in the Eastern Region.

This initiative forms part of the Healthy Futures Ghana Project, aimed at tackling the rising burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as hypertension, diabetes, stroke, cancers, and chronic respiratory conditions, as well as improving maternal and mental health services in underserved communities.

This year’s exercise holds special meaning for RRC as it follows the recent handover of a multi-million-cedi health facility at Berekuso, a landmark project already transforming healthcare delivery in the community.

Building on that achievement, the Club is now focused on addressing another urgent health need: ensuring that newborns in deprived areas survive and thrive, through the donation of four incubators to selected health facilities across the country.

Free Health Screening at Berekuso Clinic

During the health screening, over 600 community members from Berekuso and Oboadaka received free medical attention, including NCD screening, antenatal

ultrasound services, mental health support, and health education. Participants were also provided access to point-of-care testing and free consultations with both Ghanaian and international clinicians.

To strengthen local healthcare capacity, Élevè HealthWatch has donated a mobile ultrasound scanner, equipped clinics with blood pressure machines, point-

of-care testing kits, and other essential medical supplies, and provided skills training for midwives and local clinicians to ensure sustainability beyond the

outreach.

A Celebration of 40 Years of Service

Rotarian Presdent, Henry Lamptey remarked: “This partnership reflects Rotary’s commitment to transforming lives through sustainable healthcare. By combining infrastructure development, like the Berekuso Clinic, with preventive and life-saving services, we are ensuring healthier futures for communities.”

Nana Abena Gyamfua Ababio, CEO and Founder, of Élevè HealthWatch and Healthy Futures Ghana, added: “We believe in community-driven healthcare solutions. Working with Rotary, Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, and Akwapim South Health Directorate enables us to scale up preventive care, improve maternal outcomes, and empower local clinics for long-term impact.”
