Rotary Club of Accra – Ring Road Central Holds Successful “Walk
for a Child 2025” to Mark 40 Years of Service
The streets of Accra came alive on the morning of Saturday, 20th September 2025, as the Rotary Club of Accra – Ring Road Central (RRC) hosted its much-anticipated
“Walk for a Child – The 4th Decade Version.”
The event formed part of the Club’s 40th Anniversary celebrations, bringing together Rotarians, families, corporate partners, friends of Rotary, and members of the general public in a spirited display of fellowship and service.
The walk, which began and ended at the ABSA Club House, took participants through Ring Road, Ako-Adjei Interchange, and Kwame Nkrumah Circle.
Unlike ordinary fitness walks, Walk for a Child 2025 carried a deeper mission: to raise funds of GHS500,000.00 for the Club’s 40th Anniversary Legacy Projects. These projects are carefully designed to leave a lasting impact on communities by addressing critical needs in health and education.

This year’s walk takes on even greater meaning as RRC recently handed over a multi-million-cedi health facility at Berekuso in the Eastern Region, a project that has already begun transforming healthcare delivery in the community.
Building on that achievement, the Club is now focused on the next urgent need: ensuring that newborns in deprived communities get the chance to survive and thrive through the donation of four incubators to selected health facilities across the country.
A Celebration of 40 Years of Service
Addressing participants after the walk, the President of RRC expressed deep appreciation to all supporters, noting that the event embodied the Rotary spirit of “Service Above Self.” He emphasized that the Berekuso Health Facility is just one example out of many of RRC’s legacy of impact, and the incubator project will ensure that children born in underserved areas have a fighting chance at life.
The highlight of the walk was a remarkable donation of GH¢80,000 from FirstBank Ghana's staff and management, which was presented by Managing Director Rotarian Victor Yaw Asante, a Past District Governor. This generous contribution was made to support the Rotary Club's 40th Anniversary Legacy Projects. Rotarian Henry Lamptey warmly thanked FirstBank for their ongoing partnership and dedication to making a positive impact.
